On June 24th, 1947 while searching for the remains of a downed Marine C-46 transport, lost somewhere in the Mount Ranier area, a young Idahoan businessman named Kenneth Arnold spotted something that would change his life forever. Just north of his position flying at an altitude of 9,500 feet and an unprecedented airspeed of 1,700 mph he spotted nine circular aircraft flying in formation. According to his estimate the aircraft were approximately the size of a DC-4 airliner ( Jackson 4). This account was the first sighting to ever receive a great deal of media attention. This sighting gave birth to the phrase flying Saucer coined by a reporter named Bill Begrette. Although not the first UFO sighting in history, Kenneth Arnolds account is considered to be the first documented UFO sighting. The following day Mr. Arnold discovered that in addition to his sighting there were several others in the Mount Ranier area that same day (Jackson 6). When most of think of UFO sightings we picture an unemployed, half- crazed, alcoholic hick living in a trailer park in the middle small town USA. Often times this description, although a little exaggerated, seems to fit fairly well. In the past when the average person spotted a UFO they were quickly discounted as a kook or con-artist in search of either attention or monetary reward. It wasnt until more reputable figures in our society began to come forward that we that we started looking at this issue a little more seriously. An article written 1957, entitled Strange lights over Grenada written by Aime Michel describes just such an account: At 10:35 p.m. on September the 4th, 1957 Cpt Ferreira ordered his wing to abandon a planned exercise and execute a 50 degree turn to port. Ferreira was attempting to get a closer look at what he described as brilliant, pulsating light hanging low over the horizon. When the turn was completed he noticed that the object had turned too. It was still directly over his left. There was absolutely no doubt that the orange light was shadowing the F-84s. For another 10 minutes, it followed the jets without changing direction or appearance. The pilots watched as four small yellow discs broke away from the large red object and took up a formation on either side of it. All at once the large luminous disc shot vertically upward while the smaller discs shot straight towards the F-84s. In an instant the flat disc sped overhead in a hazy blur and vanished. When Cpt Ferriera was questioned by Portuguese Air Force Investigators he was quoted as sayingPlease dont come out with the old explanation that we were being chased by the planet Venus, weather balloons, or freak atmospheric conditions. What we saw up there was real and intelligently controlled. And it scared the hell out of us. (32) This is only one of literally hundreds of pilot accounts that have been documented and cross verified by other sources. To date the Portuguese Government has taken no official position as to what the luminous discs were. .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .postImageUrl , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:hover , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:visited , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:active { border:0!important; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:active , .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua0c68226fc520ca484e498866ff0055d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Causes Of World War I Essay The United States has had more than its fair share of unexplained aerial objects. In February of 1960 the N.A.A. D.S. (North American Air Defense System) spotted a satellite of unknown origin orbiting the Earth. They knew that it snt a Soviet satellite because it was orbiting perpendicular to trajectory produced by a Soviet launch. It also had a mass estimated at 15 metric tons, no evidence of booster rockets and traveled at speed three times faster than any known satellite. The satellite orbited for two weeks and disappeared without a trace. Before its disappearance, the object which appeared to give off a red glow, was photographed over New York several times (Jackson 19). Lights in the sky arent the only evidence that suggests we may have cosmic company. In the book A History of UFO Crashes, the author Kevin D. Randal gives detailed accounts of numerous UFO crashes in history. Perhaps the most famous of these crashes occurred on July 4th, 1947 in Roswell New Mexico. The crash at Roswell was witnessed from afar by over a hundred people. Until just recently, no one who was involved in the recovery operation was talking, but thanks to continued pressure from UFO enthusiast our government has begun to declassify much of its UFO related material. Perhaps more startling are than the government documents are the accounts given by local police and members of the recovery team. According to one unnamed witness, a member of the Roswell recovery team: The crash site was littered with pieces of aircraft. Something about the size of a fighter plane had crashed, the metal was unlike anything Id ever seen before. I picked up a piece the size of a car fender with one hand, it couldnt have more than a quarter of a pound and no matter how hard I tried I couldnt even get it to bend. (10) In my opinion the most fascinating piece of evidence to come out of the Roswell crash is the alien autopsy film. Apparently there was more than bits and pieces of spaceship recovered at Roswell. There is an Air Force video account of an autopsy being performed on a life form that doesnt share the common characteristics of organ development found in life forms on this planet. The film is silent and labeled Autopsy, Roswell, July 1947 (Randal 17). As difficult as the Roswell evidence is to explain or discount it pales in comparison to the physical evidence left by our ancestors. An Illustration taken from a Nuremburg Broadsheet Tells how men and women saw a very frightful spectacle. At sunrise April 14th, 1561 globes, crosses and tubes began to fight one another, the event continued for about an hour. Afterward they fell to ground in flames, minutes later a black, spear like object appeared. In a Basal Broadsheet dated August 7th, 1566 large black and white globes are seen over Dasel, Switzerland. Both events occurred in a time period when there should have nothing more than birds and bees filling our skies. They each considered to be Divine warnings at the time (Gould 95-96). Ancient physical evidence isnt limited to newspaper illustration and sketches on cave wall. Perhaps the most stounding and unexplainable pieces of physical evidence are a pair of geodes. Both are believed to be approximately 1,800 years old and when carefully examined were identified as electrical cells. One of the cells which was discovered in Iraq was tested and produced 2 volts of electricity. The other, which was discovered by a pair of Arizona rock hounds, was damaged when the sedimentary encrustation was being removed and therefore couldnt be tested Montgomery 221). Since the dawn of time man has told stories of heavenly and demonic beings coming to rule, teach, torment, seduce and provide salvation. Every culture has myths of ancient gods who strode through the heavens. The American Indians had the cachinas who taught them to farm and saved them from numerous cataclysms. .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .postImageUrl , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:hover , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:visited , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:active { border:0!important; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:active , .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1abed98cf88937e7d4e8104bae9e97bb:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Financial Ratio And Operating Indicator Analysis Accounting Essay Greece had Zeus who threw lightning bolts from his finger tips and Apollo crossed the sky in his golden chariot. The Christians have Ecclesiastes who encountered the ant people and rode through the skies with them from Babylon to Israel. Across the entire globe we find drawings on cave walls that resemble men in space suits and objects that greatly resemble flying saucers. The sacred artwork of the Hopi Indian when is without a doubt a representation of the waves produced by modern day oscilloscopes (Montgomery 225-237). The Hopis are also native to the area where one of the electrical cells were found. It could be that these things are no more than mere coincidence, but I doubt it. Man in his arrogance is reluctant to believe that we may share Gods vast, glorious universe with other beings of intelligence. We sometimes fail to realize that if the Earth were a day old, the race of man would only have been here for 13 minutes. If you couple that with the fact that there are Black Holes and White Dwarfs millions of years older than our sun, it increases the improbability that we are the only ones out here. In the preceding text I have produced a limited sampling of the volumes of evidence available. I will close this paper on a quote from Ecclesiastes I:9 there is no new thing under the sun, and that includes intelligent life. BibliographyUFOs BibliographyMontgomery, Ruth. Aliens Among Us. Immigration, aculturation and Balkanization. essays

Immigration, aculturation and Balkanization. essays We Americans have a very important decision to make. It will affect the future of our country, maybe even its future existance. Unfortunately, most Americans are not even aware of what's happening. It all has to do with immigration, legal and illegal. When I was a boy, my favorite uncle was my Uncle Fritz. His name was actually John, but when he went to work in the saw blade factory there were already several guys named John. His thick German-Swiss accent quickly earned him the nickname "Fritz" and it stuck. For the rest of his life, he was Fritz. Uncle Fritz came here from Switzerland during the Great Depression in the 30's. As a Swiss-trained machinist, he had no trouble finding a job. He got settled quickly, met and married my mother's sister, bought a house and became a citizen. He went back to Switzerland only once to visit his family there. When he came back to the US, he remarked that he was glad to be "home." Someone asked him "Fritz, when exactly did you stop thinking of yourself as Swiss and start thinking of yourself as an American?" He pondered for a moment and answered "When I realized I was thinking in English." For generations, the waves of immigrants who came to the US thought "job one" was to learn English. They simply assumed that part of being "American" meant speaking and understanding English. They came from Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweeden, Russia, the Ukraine, etc. And they all learned English as quickly as they could. Those who came before didn't coddle them or make any allowances. If you wanted to succeed here, you learned English. This is no longer true. Today, especially but not exclusively among the Spanish speaking immigrants, there are a great number of immigrants who try to retain their old language. They want TV and radio in their old language. They want schools to teach in their old language. They expect bi-lingual instructions and labeling on the products they buy. They expect bi-lingual signage...

Leapolds Land Ethic Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Leapolds Land Ethic - Essay Example Overview of Leopold’s land ethics Leopold states that it is imperative to incorporate human beings and non human factors of the ecosystem when developing ethical standards. As such, the collectivity of human and non human elements of the ecosystem is referred to as land. The ethics developed as a result of the human and non human collectivity within the ecosystem is referred to as land ethics. According to him, the principle of land ethics is aimed at preserving the beauty, stability and integrity of the biotic community and so anything, action or view that tends to counteract this opinion is considered to be wrong. In his view, the intention of land ethics is to increase the boundary of the community from one that incorporates only human beings to that which includes waters, animals, plants and soils. The land ethics shifts the Homo sapiens’ roles from being conquerors to being citizens of the land community. Respect for the land community is vital for sustainable and stable ecosystem. Leopold’s view of developing a balanced, stable and friendly environmental system to include all aspects of nature is supported by Baird Callicott, who expounds the land ethics by developing an environmental ethics that call for inclusion of other non human elements in the human legacy. Leopold’s ideas is well expounded in his deeds when he was employed to terminate bears, mountain lions and wolves in new Mexico(Leopold and Michael 42).The local ranger hated the predators because they used to attack their livestock, but Leopold views were different because he felt that they were part of nature and had a positive role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. For instance, if all predators were terminated, their natural prey would increase exponentially resulting in extreme competition with rangers’ animals for vegetation, a fact that would be disastrous to both the ranchers and the balance of the ecosystem. Basing on Leopold’s land ethics, th ere is a close relationship between ecosystem balance and evolution, but human factors have brought detrimental impact on the relationship causing disastrous results to the course of nature (Leopold and Michael 72). The relationship between land ethics and evolution and how man has come to affect it Evolution is a gradual and natural change of biological population over a period of time. It occurs in natural settings and results in extinction of some species and development of other generations. Charles Darwin is a major proponent of evolution theory and his ideas have been instrumental in the formulation of land ethics. The relevant ideas in land ethics that were influenced by Darwinian’s natural selection principal hold that the survival and reproduction of animals is well achieved within cooperative group, no groups can remain integrated without necessary ethical standards and ethics are started within the family cooperation of species. Darwinian’s notion is reflect ed well in land theory which calls for cooperation between humans beings and non human factors of the ecosystem to ensure stability of biotic system and sustainable living conditions. For evolution to occur well, it must take a natural trend. However, if other factors distort the natural pathway, there is likely to be an unexpected

Conscience clauses Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Conscience clauses - Assignment Example However, it may also involve any segment of patient care. This conscientious opposition to health care continuously affects an individual well-being or access to health care since the oppositions interfere with the provision of health services. If faced with an issue of abortion, this use of the conscience clause is significant so as to save the life of the unborn child. Abortion is a concrete issue that a woman decides due to pressure from family or his partner. Asking the patient questions in a sympathetic manner will make her open up to discuss the issue with you. So the woman might be in a confusing situation and as a health care provider, you must be capable of coming up with answers that can save the situation. Referring her to another hospital is not a solution. Since the woman sees abortion as the only way of being accepted back into her clan, counselling her will help rethink on her decision. In addition, you can refer her to a professional counsellor who will discuss with her on what best to

Hand Made Paper Products Marketing Essay

Hand Made Paper Products Marketing Essay Today in the world of modernization, the rapid urban growth has led to ecological deterioration globally. Many nations are adopting eco friendly practices in order to maintain balance between development and environment of the region. To contribute positively in the advancement and sustainable development, UAE is acting as a central point for all nationalities and ages which are concerned with the environmental protection and waste management. The UAE takes initiative to build green economy in the region and practices with several programmes and policies with an aim to become one of the world leaders for export of technology as well as eco friendly products. It also maintain a sustainable environment to support long term growth (Mohammed unveils UAEs Green Economy, 2012). This initiative includes several policies in the area of investment, agriculture and energy in which hand made paper products is one of the practices implemented in UAE. The demand of hand made paper products are gradually increasing for both domestic and industrial utilization. Handmade papers are used for the purpose of crafting, manufacturing gift items and carry bags. The handmade products are eco friendly in nature and also admired for style, simplicity and easy for use. Literature Review: The growth of handmade paper products has been remarkable as sustainability appeals directly to consumers. The education and awareness leads to the usage of the green products or eco friendly products in the society (Finding the green in todays shoppers). The usage of products is depending on consumers perception which can be influenced by the social awareness programs and also by avoiding hazardous and harmful products. For example, in order to promote paper bags usage of poly bag is restricted in India. The majority of consumers, more than eighty percents care about the uses of renewable energy (Harleysville, April 2011). At the same time this concern has diminished slightly in order to proceed for the advancement. Consumers primarily relate renewable energy with several benefits of environment and the living beings. Despite of common perception, region is also a major factor that influences consumer attitude for the usage of products. For example, UAE is more aware about the eco friendly product and implemented many programs such as carbon footprint, renewable power etc (Harleysville, April 2011). As per modern study, it has been found that eco friendly products are more preferred among other consumable products category and hence, there is a scope for the usage of these products (figure 1) (Harleysville, April 2011) Figure 1: Green purchases are far larger in more consumable categories Source: (Finding the green in todays shoppers) Figure 2: There is a huge prospect for companies to fulfill the latent demand for green products Source: (Finding the green in todays shoppers) The UAE found that adopting eco friendly products is not just good for the environment but it is also good for the business as there is vast opportunity for such products (figure 2) (Carla Ferraro, 2008.). Initially, consumers not eagerly adopts and implements the new technology but because of the threats of global warming and social awareness consumers are getting conscious and concern about the factors and thus contributing to the green environment (Carla Ferraro, 2008.). For Example, as per the news published in the various newspaper of the UAE, most of the consumers are switching towards the uses of Jute bags instead of plastic bags. In context to handmade paper products, consumers trend is gradually increasing with the awareness and education; although the UAE market majorly depend on the import from other countries for eco friendly products. Research Methodology: Research Design: In order to identify and analyze the consumer trends pertain to the Hand Made Paper Products in the UAE region, a research design has been formulated. In order to provide right direction to data analysis in the research we have formulated a well Prearranged Questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises of the questions asking about the characteristics of the Hand Made Paper Products which attracts the consumers towards their usage. The questionnaire is based on the 5 points Likert scale questions for the responses of the respondents in order to analyze the research findings more vibrantly. Please refer Questionnaire Document attached in Appendix for the Questionnaires. Sampling- Random Sampling: The sampling method that has been used in our survey is the Random Sampling Method. Random Sampling Methods include the acquiring of data from a non-specific selection of the target population so as to get a non-uniform data for the areas specified. The questionnaires are distributed among the respondents on the random basis and thus random sampling has been used for the collection of the data of the study by assorting questionnaires. Respondents and Sample Size: The sample size of the study is 100 and the respondents of the study are the retail consumers of various FMCG products. British TV Drama :: essays papers

British TV Drama To what extent has British television drama contributed to a public discourse on major political and social issues, both in the recent past and during the 1960s. Please draw on specific examples in presenting your argument. In this essay I will discuss how political and social issues have been raised in British television drama and also how they relate to public discourse in Britain. I will discuss TV dramas such as Our Friends in the North, Talking to a Stranger, Cathy Come Home, and Boys from the Blackstuff. There are various issues, which could be identified as social and political in a TV drama, some of them are race, ethnicity, class and gender. Most people are influenced by television, believing what they see to be ‘real’ so it is useful to make a successful programme on hard-hitting issues as it will have deep impact on the audience. From the mid-50s on there has been an increase in original TV drama with a broader appeal. The preference for original drama was a reaction to the theatre’s preoccupation with middle-class concerns. So the ‘angry young men’ playwrights were established. They wrote about ‘real’ issues, about ‘problems faced by the members of a broader audience in their daily lives’. This can be seen in the 1960s, with the arrival of innovative dramas such as Cathy Come Home and Talking to a Stranger. In the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s programmers were taking risks allowing new talent space to grow, but now TV drama tends to be more genre-based. Jeremy Sandford’s Cathy Come Home (1966) bought the issue of homelessness into the public’s eye by showing Cathy’s slide into poverty and despair. Cathy Come Home is ‘deeply concerned about aspects of our society and deals with the plight of the unfortunate, the misunderstood, the ignored’. Policies were promptly changed after this programme was aired; the homeless charity ‘Shelter’ formed four days after Cathy Come Home was screened. Cathy Come Home used an innovative documentary style by using lightweight cameras and by taking the action out of the studio. The director Ken Loach rejected the used of the studio and instead opted for 16mm film. Cathy Come Home offered ‘a harsh and jarring realism which depended on energetic editing, creative use of sound and dialogue, and techniques borrowed from documentary.

Knowing that Coca-Cola is a brand leader in his market; it will be easy to continue to have a growing market in South America. S1, S2, S3, S4, S5/O2, O 3, O4. All of this because coca-cola has a unique taste, it is followed by contacts (like MacDonald), his strategy is great and it has a diversified production lines. | W1/O3. Like everybody knows, Coke is not really good for your health. However everyone knows that Coca-cola was originally sold in pharmacies for stomach ache. Maybe that Coca-Cola could buy the competition, which is not tarnished by this reputation. W2/O4, O5. Even if they are young people who are targeted by coca cola, by exploiting new markets and new products, coca-cola can expand his target, as if they provide food. W4/O5. To bring down the new competitors on the market, coca cola have to show all the drinks he offers, as many are ignored and coca-cola has the budget for put these drinks forward. This will permit at coca-cola to be apart from other major competitors such as Pepsi etc †¦ T3/W3. Legal problems are present, knowing that coca is not developed in regard to health. For this strategy (already good) coca must to be improved, and do not forget that a wide range of product is alread y present in coca-cola by passing of coca zero until coca light. T4/S5. In terms of bottling partners, this must be a part of the strategy of coca-cola who is world leader and who has the capabilities to invest in bottling, the question is: it is worth the trouble it? T5/W5. About the economic crisis, I think Coca-cola is a global leader, so he has just to try to conquer new markets such as South America and to develop his others annexes brands who miss of popularity|

The Handwritten Note

The Handwritten Note The Handwritten Note The Handwritten Note By Maeve Maddox As public school districts drop instruction in cursive handwriting, and young bloggers reflect with amazement that â€Å"there was a time where [sic] just about everything was handwritten,† it’s easy to believe that no one under the age of 105 would dream of sending a handwritten note to a friend, colleague, or client. Don’t you believe it. Far from belonging to the analog past, the handwritten note has found a place in the high-tech world of business. Forbes, the Huffington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, as well as lesser publications and business sites, feature articles on the value of the handwritten note. In a time when people are deluged with emails and junk mail, the handwritten note stands out like a raven in the snow. In the business world, standing out is good. Business consultants and CEOs don’t simply recommend the use of handwritten notes to prospective clients; some require it. In an article at Forbes, Jessica Kleiman mentions a colleague who requires his sales staff to turn in photocopies of the thank-you notes that they send during the week; he wants to know they aren’t relying on email alone. She also cites a magazine editor who won’t hire a job applicant who doesn’t send â€Å"a real note† following the interview, â€Å"no matter how impressive they were in person.† Handwritten notes are not only good business, but good human relations, little candles shining in a naughty world. In an increasingly impersonal world in which telephones are answered by robots, and the mail brings piles of glossy junk, a handwritten note says, â€Å"Hello, I know you’re there; I like and respect you enough to take some time to let you know that you matter.† John Coleman says that part of what makes a handwritten note so valuable is that it costs more than digital communication: [Unlike email] handwritten notes are unusual. They take minutes (or hours) to draft, each word carefully chosen with no â€Å"undo† or â€Å"autocorrect† to fall back on. Drafting one involves selecting stationery, paying for stamps, and visiting a mailbox. They indicate investment, and that very costliness indicates value. If, as the U.S. Postal Service notes, we only receive a handwritten letter once every two months, each of those letters likely means more to us than the â€Å"cheaper† communication we receive each day. –Harvard Business Review Sometimes people are so startled to receive a handwritten note they send a thank-you note in reply. The occasion of a handwritten note can even be newsworthy: [John F. McKeon, a New Jersey assemblyman,] was surprised to receive a handwritten note from Mr. Christie, telling him that he had heard the comments, and that he didn’t like them. [President Obama] has sent a handwritten note to one art historian apologizing for his â€Å"off-the-cuff remarks,† which he said were intended as a commentary on the market, not the value of art history. No doubt about it–handwritten notes get attention. Next time you’re in the office supply store replenishing your toner, you might want to add some quality notepaper and a nice pen to your order. I Believe In Jesus Christ Religion Essay Essay Example

I Believe In Jesus Christ Religion Essay Essay Example I Believe In Jesus Christ Religion Essay Essay I Believe In Jesus Christ Religion Essay Essay Ervin Drake, Irvin Graham, Jimmy Shirl and Al Stillman wrote this vocal in 1953 and Frankie Laine sang the most popular version of it. Jane Froman commissioned the vocal was commissioned for her early 1950s telecasting show, going the first hit vocal of all time introduced on telecasting. Troubled by the eruption of the Korean War in 1952 so shortly after World War II, Froman invited the four work forces to compose a vocal which would offer hope and religion to the people. Over the old ages the vocal written for Americans became a global success with Frankie Laine singing the most popular version.[ 1 ] Merely as Jane Froman who suffered chronic hurting and wore a leg brace for most of her life after lasting a plane clang in February, 1943 while she was touring ground forces cantonments in war torn Europe, commissioned this vocal to raise the liquors of people fearing the Korean War would go World War III, so did the Christian Church develop popular statements of religion to prolong its members in the face of unorthodoxy. Every, declaration in The Creed was an early Church effort to clear up the Church s beliefs and divinity. ADOPTIONISM Lord and Christ The Man Jesus KENOTICISM Divine Pre-existence Lord and Christ The Man Jesus Docetism The ageless Lord Human visual aspect The Church took many 100s of old ages to develop the beliefs and divinity which you and I take for granted. During the first 400-500 old ages the Church s theologists and those who repudiated them debated and discussed the nature of Jesus Christ: Was He human? Was He divine? Could He be both godly and human at the same clip? The Church besides tussled polemically with non-believers about the crucified Christ. If Jesus was Godhead, how could He endure on the Cross? Would nt He merely travel through the gestures of deceasing without really sing human hurting? The people who said this was the instance, non merely denied Jesus humanity, but besides denied His human birth to Mary, His female parent and denied His human decease and descent into snake pit. Christians had to believe carefully about such issues. They had to be even more careful about how they stated their beliefs: on one manus so they would clearly define God s disclosure and on another manus repulse all incorrect announcements and instructions. SLIDE FOUR To state I believe in God, the Father Almighty, The Maker of Eden and Earth was to aline Christian beliefs and divinity with Judaism from which Christianity had emerged. It was besides to put Christianity apart from Greek and Roman faiths and all other spiritual patterns and announcements by which fans worshipped many Gods. To state I believe in Jesus Christ, His lone Son, our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary was to put Christianity apart from Judaism and, in the 7th century, from Islam. Christians committedness and devotedness to Jesus Christ sets every Christian apart from everyone else in the universe, because Christians commit to and idolize merely God whom you know through Jesus Christ. The name Jesus comes from the Aramaic name Yeshua ( Joshua ) , from Hebrew Yah-shua, intending God saves which was a popular name of the clip.[ 2 ]The name points to Him being an historical individual and non a figment of person s wild imaginativeness. Jesus is frequently called Jesus Christ or Christ with Christ being the English term for the Greek IÂ §I?I?I?I„I?I‚ intending the anointed 1. It is a interlingual rendition of the Hebrew ?zOÂ ©Oâ„ ¢?-OÂ · ( MA?A?iaa ) , normally transliterated into English as Messiah.[ 3 ]Use of this rubric grants Jesus a specific topographic point in History. When you declare that you believe in Jesus Christ your Lord, you are seeing Him in His function in relation to your personal religious demands. Merely through Jesus Christ can you trust to cognize God, so He overcomes your ignorance of God. Merely through Jesus Christ can you trust to be related with God, eliminating your alienation from God. Merely through Jesus Christ can you have the counsel and protection you need to populate as trusters who know God and are reconciled to Him. SLIDE FIVE When John wrote of such things, he called Jesus Christ the Word of God ( John 1.1-4 ) . He assumed that anyone who read his Gospel would hold at least a working cognition of the Old Testament and of Judaism within both of which the Messiah is referred to as the Word. John assumed that his readers would cognize that Jesus, as the Word, was active and powerful in Creation ( Genesis 1 ) , in rescue of God s people ( Isaiah 42.1-9 ; 49.1-7 ; 52.13-53.12 ) and opinion of people s behavior and belief ( Psalm 96.13 ) . SLIDE SIX Remarks such as those John made in the first few poetries of his Gospel ( John 1.1-4 ) underpinned the base the Church took against unorthodoxy. SLIDE SEVEN In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him and without Him non one thing came into being. What has come into being in Him was life and the life was the visible radiation of all people. ( John 1.1-4 NRSV ) When John started his Evangel with these words, he indicated his belief that Jesus was ageless, sharing infinity with God His Father, because In the beginning was the Word: i.e. , Jesus existed before the creative activity of the universe and the human race. John besides gave the Church a theological foundation upon which it could set up declarations such as The Apostles Creed. In the manner human existences step Time, Jesus was in the beginning with God and, because He rose from the dead defeating decease, He has no terminal. Yes! Jesus lived as a adult male within Time for about 33 old ages, but Time did non adhere Him. He was non like God, because He was God really, is God. Where God is, Jesus is. With these words John countered the dissident claim that God the Father and Jesus the Son were two distinguishable entities two distinguishable separate existences. SLIDE EIGHT John besides stated his belief that Jesus participated in the Creation of the universe and Mankind, because nil was made without Him being the Godhead: All things came into being through Him and without Him non one thing came into being ( John 1.3 ; Hebrews 1.10 ) . Besides, What has come into being in Him was life and the life was the visible radiation of all people ( John 1.4 ) . Jesus non merely participated in Creation, but besides in giving life to people. Jesus did non merely make, but besides continues to supply, so that life can travel on and on. SLIDE NINE Decision Although the Church published the first known visual aspect of The Apostles Creed about 710-714AD[ 4 ], Christians of most persuasions have used it repeatedly to confirm their religion and to give them a footing for farther theological thought. In today s western society in which Christianity is progressively marginalised and in which indifference and a deficiency of sympathy towards Christianity is distributing obliges all Christians to act openly as trusters and to declare their beliefs more boldly utilizing The Apostles Creed. You are encouraged to clear up your beliefs for yourself and others and underpin your Christian behavior. SAMPLING Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

SAMPLING - Essay Example Systematic sampling on the other hand, is a sampling design that employs the technique of selecting the elements to be sampled using a fixed pattern by first arranging the elements in a certain pattern (Kalton, 1983). Additionally, stratified sampling refers to a method of first partitioning the whole population into subgroups called strata after which samples are chosen from each stratum (Särndal, Swensson & Wretman, 1992). Cluster sampling is another method of sampling where the population is divided into smaller units called clusters where the researcher randomly selects the elements to be sampled from each cluster (Thompson, 2012). This technique is useful when the population is too large. There exists various sampling situations: the population in a given country is divided into districts and a household is sampled from each group to represent the whole population. Describe photograph Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Describe photograph - Essay Example There are two small motorized boats in the middle foreground, one brown and one white, both being driven by single adult males towards the viewer. Other boats are moored amongst the poles on the left, and there are still more boats moving on the water. The canal flows in a sweep of steely blue, from the middle of the picture down to the front and to the right, where it forms the bottom right corner of the picture and turns into a turquoise shade, showing triangular wave patterns in the wake of the boats. There are no trees, and no sidewalks, but the water looks very like a street, because of the busy traffic of boats on it. It dominates the front and center of the picture, and clearly the photographer intended to capture the character of this interesting mode of transportation. Despite the boats which are clearly moving, there is serenity in the picture which comes from the expanse of water and sky, and the lack of human people, despite all the evidence of habitation and city life. The middle section of the picture consists of buildings on both sides, though those on the right are smaller than those on the left. About half way up the photograph on the right there is a large domed building, with several smaller domed towers to its right. This is clearly a special location, because it is much bigger than the other buildings around it, and it forms a striking silhouette against the sky, like a collection of upturned tea-cups on a table. Most of the domestic buildings have red tiled roofs while the domes are a mauve/brown color. Television antennae, flagpoles, and chimneys stick up from all the rooftops. Further up still, and in the distance, compared to the viewer, there is another tower, with a small sphere on the roof, resting on a square roofed building which has two round arches. Above all the buildings, and stretching over the whole top edge of the picture there is
